Optical4less.com. What's going on?
The time was 02:00am 4th Jan-2007. I was working in front of my computer as usual. Yea, I already get used to work at night since I started optical4less . I was checking yesterday's optical4less site log. Suddenly. The most terrible thing in the world happened :
It is a nightmare! Domain optical4less.com suddenly expired! What happened?
As I remember half years ago. I paid 10 years of renewal fee (yes 10 YEARS!) to my domain name service provider REGISTERFLY.COM extend my domain name until 2016-1-4.
I quickly checked whois.sc. It shows that the whois info of optical4less.com has been updated. Someone changed the expire date to 2007-1-4!
In the mean time I was trying to contact REGISTERFLY.COM to understand what was happening.
After 2 hours of clicking their '24 horus live chat' I finally got an agent to serve me - 'Mike'
Another half hour waiting he said another company , their previous Registrar ENOM.com is holding it and he claims that the renewal server is down for maintaince. !? And told me to contact him again after 24 hours....
After 24 hours I contacted Mike again and guess what? He repeated what he said .... another 24 hours down for maintaince...
And now. 3 days after. I couldn't even connect their 'live chat' anymore....
It was sad enough and I feel totally hopeless. In the next 48 hours after the domian expired I could not sleep.
I kept finding ways to fix it and keep sending emails / creating support tickets to let registerfly know about my problem .
But the main point is. I still have no idea what's happening to optical4less.com! May be I'm too stupid to use registerfly.com.....
After 3 years of smooth, fast growing business. Looks like we are going to lose the domain name optical4less.com forever....

You're still the owner of the domain. It only needs to be updated. If they can't do it -- or won't -- move it to GoDaddy or something.
Things not seems to be that easy. one of the staff of regfly mentioned that domain optical4less.com is locked by 'ENOM.com' and they can do NOTHING to unlock it...
Also, I'm not able to access the auth code of my domain once its expired. So looks like transfering is not available .
By the way, just before the domain expired I was planned to support my customers to join your "GROUNDHOG DAY Photo contest".
It seems my plan not going to be happen :-(
I did a WHOIS search and you're still the owner. The fact that RegisterFly hasn't helped you with this is absurd -- that's their job, especially since it's registered with them.
Even when domains expire, they aren't immediately available to anyone who wants them -- it takes months. You still have all rights to the domain. I deal with crap like this as part of my day-job all the time. I've never dealt with RegisterFly, but they're probably not a whole lot different than everyone else. Just keep bugging them -- hourly if you need to.
A domain is way too valuable a thing to lose.
Good luck!
Thankyou for your suggestion.I'm keep clicking their 'live chat' but sadly. No more successful connection thru it.
I'll keep doing this.
How funny (well, not really!) to read your problems and then see that it was registerfly! I've been using them for a couple of years, and had nothing but growing problems. I finally ditched them a couple months ago. They seemed to have gotten completely incompetent. Sorry you had to deal with them too.
